WEEK FOUR

April 24, 2006 Today, we installed the trial versions of the softwares we need in the development of the multimedia content of our website. We did'nt install them immediately after we downloaded them last tuesday because these are only 30-day trial versions and they might expire before we even finish our project. We started making the interface of our site immediately and this is what we came up to:

In the afternoon, we converted our design to HTML format then we researched on SQL on the net. We plan to continue with our multimedia content tommorow.

April 25, 2006 We continued developing the multimedia content of our site. We used Flash to add some animations to our site. We had a problem in converting our design to an HTML page because our slices were not that organized. There were some clippings and table errors so we sliced our image in Photoshop again and converted it using Dreamweaver. The animations we did in Flash were also affected because the were some changes in the size of the images.

In the afternoon, We converted our HTML page to an ASPX page using Visual Web Developer. We copied the HTML code from our page to an empty ASPX file then we tried to run it and it worked!!!! A problem solved!

April 26, 2006 We had a problem today. When we try to add a component like a textbox or a dropdown list on to our page and run it, an error message appears on the browser. The error says that the component we added and "runat=server" code should be inside a form tag. All of us in our group dont have that much experience on HTML coding because we learned HTML the WYSIWYG way so we reasearched on the net about form tags.

In the afternoon, we continued researching on how we can solve our problem but we still can't find a topic specific enough for our problem. I tried and tried making codes on form tags until i came up with these codes.

I tried to run the page again and IT WORKED!!!!!!!!!!!
Another day...a problem solved..good times..good times...

April 27, 2006 Today, we tried to tinker around the SQL management studio and learned how to create tables, relationships and keys. The thing that we cannot understand is how we can connect the database we made to our web application through the network.

We also continued with our design and added background to our site.
We also researched on how to make a simple shoutbox on ASP.NET because we plan to have a shoutbox in our site to provide interaction between our users.

April 28, 2006 We continued to research on making shoutboxes on the net the whole morning but we didn't find any. The only ones available are on ASP language, not ASP.NET.

We also have successfully added some components to our site. This is how it looks like on a web browser:
